Would you like your students to learn about how farmers care for their cows, conserve their natural resources, and how milk impacts the economy of the local community all while being on a local dairy farm? Then apply now for one of the Farm Field Trip grants available to fund a field trip to a local dairy farm! Up to 80 grants will be awarded based on funding needs, up to $500 for each grant.
Eligibility:
- 23-24 school year grant recipients are NOT eligible to apply and receive funds in the 24-25 school year.
- Only schools are allowed to apply. Homeschool groups will NOT be considered.
- One application per school.
- The applying teacher must be enrolled in Discover Dairy or Adopt A Cow.
Final selections are based on:
- Discover Dairy & Adopt A Cow participation
- Number of students involved
- Other dairy education in the classroom
- Confirmed farm destination
- Grant availability based on state and regional support and funds
- Up to 40 grants designated to Pennsylvania classrooms
Guidelines:
- Applications are accepted from November 1, 2024 to January 15, 2025.
- Winners can receive funds up to $500.
- No match is required. If more than $500 is requested, the maximum awarded will be $500.
- Funds can be used to cover busing, tour fees, lunch, or dairy treats.
- Winners are required to complete an acceptance form and provide a school W9.
- Photos and testimony must be emailed to us at info@discoverdairy.com, sharing the trip experience.
Timeline:
- November 1, 2024 – Application Opens
- January 15, 2025 – Application Closes
- February 14, 2025 – Applicants notified of results
- March 3, 2025 – Winners submit acceptance form & school’s W9
- March 7, 2025 – Checks are cut and mailed to winners
- June 1, 2025 – Checks must be cashed by this date
Important: We do not provide farm suggestions for a dairy farm to tour. You must contact the farm yourself and make the arrangements for the tour. We are only providing additional funds to help make the trip possible.
